Man, what a great day. Soccer by Ives just wrote the sweetest 4 words I have ever read: RBNY “waived goalkeeper Jon Conway”. I am BEYOND ecstatic that this happened at all; that it took this long is scary, but with with “Duckman’s” departure last week, as long as we don’t spend cash on any major, overpriced acquisitions (read: Khano/Rojas), we are finally headed in the correct direction. The last two-three seasons have been very difficult for this RBNY/Metro fan as my (now-)wife and I made the season ticket splurge two years ago and got to witness not only last season’s amazing playoff run, but this year’s epic collapse as well.
Yes, the chips seem down, don’t they? Who cares? 9 months ago when we launched, most people told me I was just bitter and crazy and that no one would EVER agree with me. Well, RBNY let the bum go and I kinda proved that I was right all along. While I don’t welcome the bad karma of wishing another man out of a job, I have a feeling he’ll probably con his way into another gig soon enough (and if the NJ-area player ends up in Philly and plays a role in hurting us, I will FREAK). He wasn’t the team’s only problem, but he was a big one.
I heart you, RBNY. Agoos is next.
So now what do we do?
Section 105 finally finds victory in it’s long campaign and could not be happier, So when does Osario go next.
Death by Bouna Bouna!
Happy trails, Jon. I normally would never bask in the fact that someone just lost their job, but really, you were kind of a douche. Best of luck in Philly or Salzburg or Crystal Palace Baltimore 2010. I just hope you “metabolize” into a better human being wherever you end up.
Love,
Section 105
so now what?
Who do we campaign against now?
Personally sense Osorio and Agoos are safe for now lets make Rojas life hell!!!!
Thank God RBNY waived Jon Conway as he obviously was the problem with the team. Since they waived him, the winning streak has been remarkable, I am so glad that you were right all along that Mr. Conway was in fact the issue.
Its funny that people rallied around Jeff Parke and railed against Jon Conway. I remember being in the pub after the games and ony a handful of players ever came up. One of those players was Job Conway, every game, usually sitting with his family but always signing autographs for kids and was basically there the entire time until the pub closed.
Another point not usually brought up is that Jeff Parke disappeared last year after the whole drug scandal hit and Jon Conway was always around supporting his teammates. I bet if you asked inside that locker room that probably meant something.
So once again, cheers to you, cheers to RBNY, Mr. Conway was obviously the problem.
so what happens to section 105 now?
I think we stayed in 105 at the new building. All six of us.
Hey, sorry that I missed this post when I made the migration over to the Inside Pulse family of sites. Jon Conway wasn’t the only problem, there were many. He did, however, rub me wrong personally and I won’t pretend that I made it a personal crusade to illustrate (very publicly) his shortcomings. He came to the pub because he was told to, he was a jerk to several kids when I was around, was a jerk to front office staff and, like Parke, never apologized to the fans for his egregious error in judgment.
Believe me, I would have loved to name the site “IHateJonConwayandJeffParkeforEverythingStupidSupplementTheyTookButDidNotClearWithTheirTrainingStaff.com” but that was far too long and really, my issue wasn’t with Parke. The players were suspended and not allowed to be around the team for club activities, hence the disappearance.
The site’s name wasn’t so much of a slight at Jon in the literal “I hate that guy” but at the “I hate that every time we seem to have a 89th minute lead, he seems to really blow a cross or shot that he JUST played correctly 5 minutes ago” sort of way. He might really be a good dude and will surely be kicking our ass should he end up in Philly, but this season was a bad one, the win streak started once JCO was gone (which I did predict in several other posts as well, as did many other sites and pundits) and next year MIGHT be better.
Either way, thank you for coming here and let’s be friends. It was all in good fun and it will all work out better in the long run.
